A market built on standards, not slogans.
Local Standards Market exists to make the highest-quality, locally produced, ethically sourced food and goods the easiest choice for your household — every week, without compromise.
History & Who We Are
Local Standards Market started the way most good things start — out of frustration. The shelves of the big chains kept getting longer and the ingredient lists kept getting stranger. We wanted real food from people we could name, delivered without a half-day errand.
We're a small team of operators, farmers' market regulars, and parents who decided to build the market we wanted to shop at. Today we work directly with regional farms, ranchers, creameries, bakers, and household-goods makers — most within a day's drive — to bring their work to households that care about how things are made.
We're independently owned. We are not a venture-funded marketplace, and we don't sell our shelf space. Every product we list is something we'd put on our own table.

Core Values
Five principles guide what makes the shelf and what doesn't. They aren't marketing — they're the filter every product passes through before we list it.
We prioritize producers within a regional radius. Imports happen only where local isn't possible — and they're labeled clearly.
Every product names the producer behind it. Read who made it, where, and how — no marketing fog.
We screen for fair labor practices, honest wages, and supplier relationships that last beyond a single season.
We favor regenerative, organic, and low-impact production. We say no to inputs and packaging we wouldn't want near our own home.
Price reflects what it actually costs to do this right. We don't markdown by cutting quality, and we share margin fairly with producers.
No paid placement, no kickbacks, no exclusivity deals that hide better options. Our standards are our shelf.
Product Standards
We apply category-specific standards — and one universal filter: would we put this in our own kitchen, on our own bodies, or in our own home?
Food & beverage
- ✓Whole, recognizable ingredients — no synthetic colors, flavors, or preservatives.
- ✓Produce grown without synthetic pesticides; organic where it's available.
- ✓Meat, dairy, and eggs from pasture-raised animals on regional farms.
- ✓No high-fructose corn syrup, no partially hydrogenated oils, no MSG.
- ✓Seafood traceable to vessel or farm; no overfished species.
Household & body
- ✓No parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde donors, or PFAS.
- ✓Fragrances disclosed; no “fragrance” catch-all on labels.
- ✓Recyclable, refillable, or compostable packaging wherever feasible.
- ✓Cruelty-free; no animal testing at any stage.
- ✓Concentrated or low-water formulas to reduce shipping waste.
What we don't carry
Industrially produced commodity meat & dairy, ultra-processed snack foods, artificial sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose, ace-K), GMO-derived ingredients without disclosure, and any household product whose ingredient list isn't fully published.
How we verify
Every producer fills out a sourcing questionnaire and provides supporting documentation (organic certification, third-party lab tests, animal-welfare audits). We visit farms and facilities. We re-review listings annually and after any reported quality issue.
